The Hills Supports Central Otago Junior GolfThe Hills golf course is fostering the development of golf, by offering students attending the Central Otago Golf Academy at Cromwell College along with other junior golfers in the region, exclusive access to the private golf course and its professional coaching staff. The Hills owner Michael Hill is passionate about helping young people strive to achieve their goals. "Our decision to assist young Central Otago golfers underlines our ongoing interest in seeing young people reach their potential. Through the Michael Hill International Violin Competition we have seen talented young musicians gain recognition. In the same way The Hills wants to support young golfers." Junior golfers are aged from 8-25 and The Hills plans to create a team environment of coaches, green keepers, staff and members to support, advise and foster the personal growth and development of the young sportspeople invited to the course. The association with The Hills is an exciting move for junior golf in the region, according to Central Otago Golf Academy co-ordinator Colin Cowie. "To have such a vital link with the home of the New Zealand Open certainly sets out Academy apart from others in New Zealand. We are fortunate to have the backing of Michael Hill and it reinforces his enthusiasm for supporting young people in their endeavours." "A golf course is a great place for young people to learn life skills, particularly through the etiquette of golf and Michael Hill recognises that. The young golfers will have to earn the right to visit The Hills. It is certainly a privilege for them." The junior golfers will in turn assist staff during public tournaments including The Hills Cure Kids Open in November. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION: Colin Cowie |
