Rugby legends will play golf at Arrowtown mega-jeweller Sir Michael Hill’s course during the World Cup.

They’ll play in two prestigious 72-player tournaments, which Hill is hosting on October 12 and 19.

Legends include All Black greats Sean Fitzpatrick and Grant Fox plus former Scottish international Gavin Hastings.

The trio, with Aucklander Lindsay Singleton – developer of Queenstown’s The Rees hotel – are directors of Little Black Box, which has got The Hills tournaments into Rugby World Cup packages for high net-worth individuals and corporates.

The local organisers are ex-All Black coach Laurie Mains and wife Annemarie.

“This is a great opportunity for Queenstown to showcase some of its very special facilities, and The Hills is clearly the leading light,” Laurie says.

The Hills is also hosting the Four Nations Cup amateur golf champs from October 13-16 – Fox is likely to caddy for his son Ryan, a national golf rep.
